What is Immutable zkEVM?
A chain built for gaming with 100% of design decisions made to benefit gamers and games developers only.
What is the technical significance?
The zk part of the acronym stands for Zero Knowledge. The type of technology that uses elegant math to enable secure blockchain transactions in batches also known as a rollup. This system greatly increases scalability whilst maintaining security and decentralisation, solving the Ethereum blockchains trilemma problem.
The EVM part represents Ethereum’s Virtual Machine, the coding engine at the core of Ethereum. Why Immutable zkEVM powered by Polygon matters is that it is equivalent to the EVM not just compatible. This enables the 500k+ Solidity and EVM developers in the world to seamlessly build on Immutable natively without having to learn a new language or system & with the ability to use all the tools from Ethereum that have already been built. Immutable already has a zk based chain built on StarkWares StarkEx technology. So why are they building a new chain then?
The StarkEx chain was at the time of its release in 2018, super advanced compared to anything else that was out there. 9,000 transactions per second was up there with the fastest in the world and still is extremely capable.
